Julian Organic Farms
have been “Certified Organic“ by CCOF since August 2010.
Our certification meets USDA National Organic Standards.
What's Entailed in Being an Organic Farmer?
In addition to annual inspections and required fees, it’s vital that we maintain detailed farming records. We keep accurate and up-to-date records for CCOF inspectors to verify that all seeds used for crops are certified non-GMO seeds. All sprays, fertilizers, soil amendments, and other input materials are OMRI Approved and Certified Organic.
Growing organic produce requires us to use certified organic oils and minerals to control pests and fungi. About every ten days during the growing season we use such spray applications for insect and disease control in the orchards.
Also, we are required to submit monthly reports to DPR concerning all organic sprays used in the orchards as well as seasonal row crop growing sites.
Annually, we are inspected
by these agencies:
-
California Department of Food & Agriculture - CDFA
-
California Department of Pesticide Regulation - DPR
-
California Certified Organic Farmers - CCOF
